What is the journey of our Chocolate?

What is the journey of our Chocolate?

Hi everyone!

In this mini blog, we want to share a broad picture of how our chocolate couvertures and specialty bars make it to you and your loved ones.

As you might know, it all starts by partnering with our cacao farmer co-ops around Ecuador. We seek the best cacao in regions such as Esmeraldas, Manabí, Los Ríos, and many more—all with one purpose: to bring the terroir of Ecuadorian specialty chocolate to you!

We also source directly from heirloom cacao farmers who are doing amazing things. If you want to read more about the incredible projects we are part of and how we contribute to the preservation of important cacao varieties, you can read more about it here.

Specialty Chocolate Production

Once we are done sourcing and building direct relationships with the farmers, we move into production here at the origin. But what does that mean, and why is it important for us to highlight this?

First of all, we are one of the few chocolate makers that produce right at the origin. This allows us to truly impact the value chain by supporting jobs here in the country and sourcing natural, local, high-quality ingredients. We are able to bring the true terroir of our chocolate to you.

A perfect example of this is our White Chocolate Couverture and White Chocolate Bar with Cacao Nibs. We source the best vanilla and milk from the region to make this amazing chocolate happen. We also use our high-quality specialty cacao butter from our Arriba Nacional cacao to make this delicacy.

The Chocolate's Journey

After the long months of production, we are finally able to ship everything in a container and send it from Quito, Ecuador, to our specialty food warehouse in Traverse City, Michigan. From there, we fulfill all your orders and continue making the chocolate world a better place for all of us.

We really want you to try our chocolate, but more importantly, we want you to know that there are amazing people behind it. It takes a whole village to truly encapsulate the chocolate culture in Ecuador.

We are so thankful for our community—from cacaotero (co-op), producer, manufacturer, chef, chocolatier, to chocolate addict. We cherish all of you with all our chocolate hearts.

Let's keep in Conexión
