Congratulations to Conexión Chocolate customer Chocolate Maya of Santa Barbara, California. They received the highly-coveted 2021 Good Food Award for their Fresh Mint & Lemon Bonbon, made using our Los Rios 70%. It is not easy to win one of these coveted awards. Each year, over 2,000 entries from artisanal producers across the U.S. compete for an award in their category and region. Divided into four geographic regions, there are categories covering chocolate and confections, to cider and spirits, to charcuterie and cheese. The Good Food Foundation gives out only three Good Food Awards per category in each region. As a result, this award is quite an impressive distinction.
Chocolatier Maya Schoop-Rutten, owner of Chocolate Maya, “cares deeply about the well-being of cacao farmers and their families and is committed to working with chocolate sources that pay their farmers a living wage.” That is why they have chosen Conexión as one of their main suppliers of couverture, as they say, for our “outstanding quality, reliability, and sustainability.” We are so proud of Chocolate Maya for this great accomplishment. And we are honored that they are “proud to use chocolate from Conexíón, who grow heirloom varieties of cacao and produce their delicious chocolate from start to finish in Ecuador.”
